History of the journal

"Bulletin of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Foreign Philology" is one of the oldest Ukrainian periodicals in its field. It was founded in 1958, initially under the title "Romano-Germanic Philology," and was intended to cover the scientific achievements of the teachers of the
of the respective university department in the fields of Romance and Germanic linguistics and foreign literary studies. However, over time, due to the expansion of the nomenclature of language specialties, the resumption of teaching oriental languages and Greek, the Bulletin received its current name. From 1962, the year the university established the Department of Translators, the Herald published articles on translation studies, but later this section was transferred to the newly created interdepartmental scientific collection "Theory and Practice of Translation," which was published from 1979 to 1991 and whose scientific base was the Kyiv Shevchenko University. After this publication was discontinued, translation studies returned to the university's Foreign Philology Bulletin.
